Reality TV and Brand Building: My Experience and Tips for Getting Your Brand on TV

Reality TV has played a significant role in helping businesses build their brand and gain exposure to millions of people. As the founder of Flex Watches, I have had the opportunity to be part of several Reality TV shows, including MTV Real World, CNBC The Profit, and the opportunity to have my watches featured on Shark Tank.

One of my first experiences with Reality TV was on MTV Real World, where I was personally integrated into Season 26 of the show. Our company, Flex Watches, was able to showcase our products on TV through product placement and brand activation. Additionally, we had our office signage and apparel featured in 12+ episodes. To further increase our brand exposure, we even had the opportunity to film our own 15 and 30 second TV commercials for MTV.

Another significant experience was being part of CNBC’s The Profit. The show not only helped us get an investment of $400,000, but we were featured in our own episode. We even had a follow-up episode, where I had the opportunity to sit on set with the executive producers and film the inside look, which also helped to promote our brand. Additionally, I got to work behind the scenes with the production team and I appeared in several episodes of The Profit (seasons 4-6).

While I wasn’t personally on Shark Tank, our products were featured on the show when Daymond John wore our watches on TV six or more times. I was fortunate enough to get to go on set and watch how the production team produces the show. It was an incredible experience and gave me an inside look at how Reality TV is produced.

Beyond these experiences, my products have appeared on several national television shows such as The Kardashians, Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, The Bachelor, Millionaire Matchmaker, and Let’s Make a Deal, among others.

Overall, being part of Reality TV shows has been a great learning experience for me. I learned the value of product placement, brand activation, organic cast member integration, and Reality TV production. If you’re looking to build your brand, I highly recommend exploring the opportunities that Reality TV has to offer. It’s an excellent way to get exposure to a massive audience and build your brand quickly.

Here are 3 things you can do to get your brand on Reality TV:

  1. Research and Identify Appropriate Opportunities: To get your brand on Reality TV, you need to do your research and identify relevant shows that align with your brand’s values, products, and target audience. Make a list of shows that you think are the best fit for your brand and then look into how you can apply to be featured on those shows.
  2. Build Relationships with Producers: Building relationships with Reality TV producers can help you get your foot in the door and increase your chances of being featured on a show. Reach out to producers of the shows you’re interested in and let them know about your brand and why you think it would be a good fit for their show.
  3. Use Social Media to Your Advantage: Social media is a powerful tool that can help you get noticed by Reality TV producers. Make sure your brand has a strong social media presence and regularly posts engaging content that resonates with your target audience.
